Lights, Camera, Action! Movie Parties
Movie night is a staple in our household, whether it’s at the movie theater or snuggled up on the sofa in the comfort of our home. Hosting a movie party is such a fun and affordable way to celebrate your child’s birthday.
Here are a few tips and ideas;
Invitations: These movie party invitations from Etsy are inexpensive and can be printed from your home computer or choose from one of these movie inspired evites from Paperless Post.
Party Decor: Comfortable seating is key. If you are looking to keep all of the mess outside, why not rent a projector and screen and host your movie party under the stars. Set up chairs or create cardboard cars for younger kids and let them experience a homemade drive-in theater.
Choose an appropriate movie for your audience: Find out from your child if they have a specific movie in mind and if not help them decide on a certain genre or theme. Make sure you find something that caters to your audience as a whole. We love this list of top 50 family movies from Times Out Kids.
Sweet Treats: You can’t celebrate movie night without treats. I love these vintage popcorn bags from Shop Sweet Lulu and these movie themed cupcake toppers from Kara’s Party Ideas.
Activities: If you don’t want to make an actual movie the focal point of the birthday party, why not hire Katherine Perry at Make -A -Movie Parties. Katherine creates a movie set for your child and friends, provides props and costumes and videotapes the children performing their masterpiece. Children have the opportunity to watch and enjoy their performances at the end of the party and for an additional fee can take home a DVD of their performance.
Party Favors: Package up some popcorn for your guests or take a look at some of our ideas on Pinterest.
Now all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show!
